Encouragement Starts at Dawn
I believe a ‘spoon’ full of loving support should be fed to our children at a very early age. It should start at the dawn of their development…the newborn stage.
Babies start developing skills as soon as they enter this world at dainty dawn or dreamy dusk.
They automatically know to eat, and to cry to signal mom into action to address their needs.
As moms and intuitive teachers, we initiate tummy time at ‘dawn’. Our instincts are to put our newborns on their bellies to strengthen their necks/ heads. Our instincts should also entail the imperativeness of encouragement.
Talk to your baby as they are trying to develop new skills; clap, say “Yay!” when they enact milestone moments. Smile and guide them with your supportive voice.
Why is ‘encouragement at dawn’ important?
- Future confidence:
I’ve noticed many adults who are anxious and overthink. I believe some of this thickly stems from lack of encouragement from newborn stage into childhood era.
Adults who were never encouraged, cannot make decisions and curtail confidence. Silenced support from parents affects daily routines immensely with unassured minds.
Doubt then clouts every step taken throughout life.
I find myself, more and more, looking at my 7 month old daughter with reassurance. I find myself cheering her on with “Yays!” and colorful claps of cheer. I want to start emboldening my little girl with godly confidence.
Granted, true confidence comes from God. But, as parents, we are the caretakers of His children and need to guide their development.
Thus, at ‘dawn’, start encouraging your little ones. Start feeding them with optimism. It will be vital to their mental health.
