Come to the Table of Suffering
You may flinch when you read, “Come to the table of Suffering”.
You may shake off thoughts of fearsome flashbacks when you see, “Come to the Table of Suffering”.
Although this title sounds fierce, it is necessary.
Come, my friends…come, parents…come, all, to this table of trial in order to sit with Jesus and heal.
Pulling up a chair to a table that is set with a ‘past placement’ is vital. Although, there are many hands that do not want to touch the dirty utensils of prior pandemonium. There are many hands that do not want to pick up cups that are dinged with damaging emotions.
Yet, in order to heal from past experiences and true trauma, we have to sit at the “Table of Suffering”. There, you will face and look upon the “tribulation Runner”. Your mind will engage with embellishments of ebon memories. Then, when your thoughts tame and accept the sewn situation, you’ll be able to look up. At the end of the runner, Jesus sits at the head of the table awaiting your closeness.
Draw night to God and He will draw nigh to you. - James 4:8
Jesus is waiting for you to pick up the dirty utensils and carry the past to Him. When you do, he will shine them with a polishing peace. He will also paste your damaged cup with a grace that seals the soul. Pull up a chair next to Him to find relief and glue your scar.
There are times in my life I come to the “Table of Suffering” to sit and reflect on silverware of sorrow. My silverware is dirtied with ‘the loss of my dad’. Since my daughter’s been born, I make sure to pick up my ‘utensils’ consistently and bring them to Jesus. If I don’t, they will rust over with bitterness.
Therefore, pull up your chair and face the ‘tribulation runner’ on occasion to maintain healing. Draw near to God and He will heal your ‘past table setting’ and it will shine with joyous soul.
