Rooted around the Rock

This past weekend my husband and I visited Jefferson Island located in Louisiana. A secret garden breezing with magical moments curved throughout the property. Openings seemed to unlock discoveries, and then turn a golden key to a sun-draped lake.

One landscape we admired upheld statuesque stone with Asian intricacies. A Live Oak Tree seemed to grow atop and around the brick.

Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. Matthew 7:24-26

Moms, dads…everyone…are we rooted around the rock? Are we like a Live Oak protruding from mastered masonry that is artistic with authenticity? Do we set upon the etchings of eternal illustrations?

Are our roots severely saturated with God’s souled sovereignty. Do they penetrate the rock and rest soundly in the middle?

When we are facing trials (such as tiredness from a teething toddler), we must envision our roots intertwining and binding to God. When we do, we maintain a joy and steadfastness. We then grow like a centennial oak that is settled on sheetrock.

We need to let the ‘monsoons’ of life (moms can relate to stresses of cleaning, planning, home managing.), evolve our girth with profound godliness. Therefore, the ‘faith droughts’ fizzle and our spiritual ‘tree rings’ widen. We become wiser and more prudent in our walk with God.

When we face thunder cloud trials with branches that extend with praise, we grow extensively upward. Our roots deepen daily and mound around the rock. Thus, we become immovable, and our trunks widen with training.

So, stay continuously rooted around the engraved rock of life, and grow immensely in anchored accord.
