Coffee on Coaster Conversations: Charlie Kirk- a lived example of “finial” fight for Faith
Over this past weekend, as you drove down every road in America and passed banks, churches, corporations, plazas, and houses surrounded by white picketed fences, American flags stood at half-staff.
You can still feel a heaviness over our nation that has kept flags weighted at half-mast and has pressed against many hearts.
Some of the flags appeared faded, frayed, and elementally aged. They have fought and withstood wind, rain, and even pelting and hollering hail.
As true Christians, we will be severely scorned, battered, and hit by hailing persecutions. And sometimes, we will detach and ‘fly away’ - into glory. If we stand as tall and boldly as American flags and shout truth, we will always be persecuted.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. - Matthew 5:10
Charlie Kirk was like a spirited American flag on a tall pole - gospel words fanning over Midwest golden wheat, Westward mountain peaks, and Northern corn rows.
He sowed, sowed, sowed spiritual seeds. While doing so, he was scorched with heated words and struck by livid lightening and heresy hailstones.
Just like Kirk, as authentic disciples, we need to hoist ourselves to the tip-top of the flagpole where we can exclaim Christ over ‘sea to shining sea’. We need to let our “flag stars” shine and proclaim Christ at the toughest weather point - the finial top; in the furious sky of lost souls.
Today and everyday, my fellow Christians, hoist yourselves up to the tip-top and boldly and lovingly yell into the sky over terrible thunder; Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life.
Do not let ancient and present martyrdom be in vain. Be like a weathervane and point the lost wind in the right direction. Hoist your “hallelujah!” to the finial top and let your “little flag stars shine”.
You will become elementally weathered and may even detach from the flagpole, but all for the race…all for the glory of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. - Matthew 5:10
