From the Stroller’s View: Houma’s Market on the Marina

  This past Saturday, March 4th, my family and I rolled throughout the Market at the Marina while my daughter’s red bowed peeped over stroller canopy. Water rippled in the background with ‘sun-catchers’ as other locals also strolled the event located in Houma

The Local market is held monthly from 8am-12pm (first Saturday of each month). It is sponsored by Terrebonne Health System and is coordinated by Amanda Pontiff (Event Coordinator). 

It consists of food/ miscellaneous vendors, food trucks, and this particular Saturday, a singer that serenaded the scene. 

The months of May and December, craft booths display their local uniqueness. 

From the ‘stroller’s view’ were ‘ballon bouquets’ of delicious tomatoes and tasty strawberries. Past friendly stands that offered samples of local delights, stood children activity tents. Under the canopies, laughter, learning, and painted faces created a rainbow over the quaint event. As a mom who pushes a ‘local stroller’, I loved seeing inclusion of children and their Saturday smiles. 

As the stroller wheels turned, we mingled with kind chatter about fresh goods and their health benefits. We stepped on the stroller brakes for pure peanut butter, fresh spring mix, vegetable wash, spices, etc. 

When we were done browsing, we strolled towards the food trucks that offered an array of menu choices. Our taste buds chose the ‘Philly Cheese Steak Fries’ from Mai Kitchen. They seasoned the end of the event with deliciousness and joy. 

Therefore, from this mama’s stroller’s view, The Market at the Marina is an enjoyable outing for all ages. The event easily accommodates strollers with bouncy babies, (and peppy pets 🙂) making it more achievable for parents. The event also ‘sun-catches’ light and cascades it onto local shopping. This ‘Mama Mare’ appreciates the strengthening of our community and families. I appreciate an event that is family-friendly and tranquil like Bayou Terrebonne.
