The Repetitious Question…What Defines you?

We’ve all heard the question asked, “What defines you?”

So, I’ll ask that repetitious question again, “What defines you?”

The answers that may bubble up
and pop may be your children, job, spouse, hobbies, ambition, success, how you dress, ancestry, etc.

When you research vocabulary words in the dictionary, the definition sometimes lists multiple meanings. One…two…three…

If the “multiple meanings” define your persona, you will be void of true definition. Explanation of oneself is excluded from the dictionary. Our true identity is found in God. Our “first meaning” should state, “Child of God.”

When we base ourselves on other facets rather than God’s will for our lives, our spirit rises with anxiety. Our “definition” is never inserted in alphabetical order. Anxiousness, depression, and lost thoughts scramble words of worth. They scribble over joy and wholeness in God.

When you also look at a term in the dictionary, the meanings are listed in numerical order. If we do not list Jesus first, and at the helm of our definement, the rest of our meaning is barren. Our name becomes erased from the “Dictionary of life”. We become disoriented with doubt and misplacement.

Only God can truly define who you are, and you can only be defined in Him. If you base your life on the “extra meanings” you will always be empty of meaningful and righteous nouns.

Define yourself as “1. ‘Child of God’” and other facets will be listed with blessed and fulfilling content.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. - Matthew 6:33
