The “Insignificant” Sparrow
This is a high-five clap of encouragement to all my stay-at-home mamas.
Today, as I walked my little girl around our neighborhood, I saw sparrows drifting through the sky like pastel kites. I watched them, the little “insignificant” birds as they seemed to eclipse behind bigger and bolder birds.
As a stay-at-home mom, I have definitely felt unseen and insignificant at times. Just like the little sparrows that seem like floating dots in the sky…I have felt small.
I have embodied a sparrow’s wings that parachute amongst the wind, just blowing amongst dim and dainty duties.
Day after day, I sway to small noted tweets of tininess. Tick-tock-tweet to little feet and the cleaning beat. Tick-tick-tweet to TV shows and dish washer bellows.
Ah, but then I thought about the Bible verse; Matthew 10:29 - “Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground outside your Father’s care.”
God sees your little “insignificant” machine-like wings. He strengthens your flap. Then, you’re able to soar within your home, and bring twigs of tender-loving care to shelter around your children.
He notices the minute hummingbird hums of your heart for your baby birds. He sees the seeds you carry to your household to feed spiritual and clean nutrition to your family.
Stay-at-home moms we are significant. We are seen by God and praiseworthy; Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate. - Proverbs 31:31
We are God’s chosen to raise sparrows of humbled strength. We are tasked to raise treasures that will golden the future sky with graceful flaps of righteousness.
Sparrows sit like vined grapes upon trees…they perch with charm and grace. They sweeten the tree with feminine songs and fly in the sky with nurturing nobility.
Tick-tick-tock-tweet…goes a mama’s heartbeat.
High-five stay-at-home mamas! God sees you and I as we fly to a sweet “insignificant” beat.
