The Benefits of “Waking while it’s still Night”
Before I started rearing up like a motivated mare, I would wake up to my little girl babbling, “Hi, star, Da-ddy, millk…eat”
My “hooves” would have to start pounding the carpet and vinyl floors like a thoroughbred out of a gate at Churchill Downs.
I had to race towards tasks without being properly “shoed”, tripping over the first few hours of the day. My mind “tack” felt loose, and I felt unprepared to pace myself at a wise walk.
Before waking up early, my spirit felt chaotic and ironically…tired. I didn’t feel tightly reined with righteous strength. I didn’t have time to pray or sit in God’s presence. Thus, my “saddled” spirit had to be quickly looped and fastened, eventually falling off into muddled mire.
She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants. - Proverbs 31:14-15
The essence of a godly woman includes “waking before your household”. Proverbs 31 describes the embodiment of a woman and the beautiful benefits:
- Instead of racing and weaving through the day, you can confidently “shoe” yourself and “go out of the gate” at a prepared pace. As a mom, you will feel more surefooted and be able to steady your gait at a strong stride throughout the day. Your energy will enhance, making your daily trot joyful.
- When you wake early, you can leisurely spend time with God instead of being restrained with “roped” time. When you start your day “in the gate” praying and reading the Bible, you will have less missteps and more leveled lopes. God’s peace is bridled to the day and reined against your heart.
- Early morning strides get you to the finish line with paced efficiency. You will feel more accomplished at the end of the day and fulfilled.
- As the sun rises on the “track”, your mom mind will also rise with clarity and shine with rejoicing rejuvenation. When you arise with God, He will give you the renewing resources to provide your family with a solid home. He will tightly fasten on grace, patience, joy, love, and compassion. Those attributes will then be “shoed” to your little foals.
“Get up while it is still night” and rein in the the beautiful benefits of a Proverbs 31 woman. Your day will be the embodiment of godliness and thoroughbred strength.
