Coffee Minute Moment with Mama Mare: Sometimes, Moms have to Venture into their Closets

Fellow Mommas, I’m going to get personal and vulnerable. Last night, my weakness brought me to my knees. I’m drained from the everyday Irish jig shenanigans and house management (unlike our current clogged sink). While my husband and little girl were sleeping, I went into my clothes-lined closet and cried out to God, “Jesus, please help me! I need your strength!”

I sat there and cried amongst the judgement-free dresses and jewelry. I sat there and opened my soul like opening my jewelry box to look inside. I needed the Lord, and he met me in the midst of blouses and shoes…”I’m here, daughter.”

In our weeping weakness, we are made strong:

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

Paul explains in clothed and hung detail that weakness tweaks and initiates God’s power within us. It’s as if we are Superman (or, in this case, Superwoman) and we have to fly to the sun to regain and zip up power. God, being the sun.

So, as mommas, we should all take a moment while everyone is sleeping to delve deeply into our clothes closet. Amongst the flower embellishments and quiet quilts, cry out to God. Cry out to the Son and fly into His sunny presence. There, you’ll be renewed and clothed with a powerful piece of clothing.
