Coffee Minute Moment with Mama Mare: Little Thorns in the Side

Do you feel like weird and wild trials happen to you sometimes? The ones that are small and odd? I’m sure everyone can attest and say, “Yes.”

Well, yesterday, one of those oddities happened to me. I decided to prune my roses while my toddler was napping. To prevent an odd injury, I wore gloves for protection from the spiky thorns behind pink satin softness.

While pruning and listening to uplifting Psalms, I hit my knuckle into a big thorn…prick! (My demeanor became a little nicked.) My knuckle began to fill with pain and swelling followed due to fungal bacteria. I thought, “What a weird incident. What a strange accident to happen. What a bizarre little ‘thorn in my side’.”

Trials vary in size, from tiny unforeseen eccentricities to hornet-like thorns. But, most days seem like little testings of faith.

Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” 2 Corinthians 12:7-9

Today, if you have a little thorn in your side, pull out the bad attitude bacteria and maintain a healthy faith with God’s grace. His grace is the almighty ointment that revives our lives with sustainability under the bandaid.

Start looking at these tiny thorny peculiarities and trail your eyes up to the beautiful lessons of scholarly faith. You will overlook your swollen trial and bring in a jar of rosy and hearty outlook. God’s sufficient grace sits in “Mason vase” with flourishing power.
