Coffee Minute Moment with Mama Mare: Today’s thought Anticipation led to God’s Adaptation
Today, I awoke with the anticipation of making perfect puffy waffles for my “little foal” (Of course, I made coffee first.).
I rousted my little girl out of bed and said, “Let’s make waffles!” (Cue the thought of Donkey in the movie Shrek.)
So, with her toddling finesse and two-year-old experience, (placing a whole shelled egg in the bowl while Mommy smiled with pride) we made banana waffles together.
I plopped the mixture onto the waffle iron in heightened anticipation of scrumptious breakfast treats for my daughter (and me). I then opened the iron and disappointment dimpled my face. The waffles were mush. I thought, “What happened? Did I add too much mushy banana?”
So, it was time to “remodel” an adaptation of the banana waffles. I added a cup more of almond flour and adjusted other ingredients. Then, I opened the iron a second time, and average waffles appeared (Although, still not the “puffy” preferred consistency I was hoping for.).
There will always be days, especially as mommies, that don’t turn out with a “fluffy” and perfect “puffy” consistency.
We wake up, anticipating perfection, even though we know perfection is impossible.
When the “ingredients” of the day falter and the perfect planned recipe turns to mush, immediately turn to God. Give him the measuring cups and allow Him to readjust the measurements for a renewed adaptation of the day.
His “remodeled” recipe will fluff and puff with His perfection. Then, contentment will arise in any waffle mixture…in any kind of day.
Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content. - Philippians 4:11
