Mama Mare POV: Make Coffee for Each Other

If you’re like this Mama Mare, I make coffee every morning before my little foal “shakes off the hay”.

A couple days ago, I opened the blinds and the refrigerator door to shake off my sleepy hay. I was stirred by the sun and the ready-made coffee that lit up with a neon love note; “Good, morning my love. Go with God.” I was struck with instant love like my instant iced coffee.

Have you made a cup of coffee for your spouse lately? Have you stuck little neon orange love notes to lunch boxes or coffee mugs?

When you “make coffee” for each other you’re saying, “I notice you through the window  condensation of everyday life.” You’re communicating, “Even though I’m gone before you stir, here’s a loving kiss from afar.”

When you serve each other you are reconnecting to the nostalgic beginning of your marriage. Acts of service are like flirts. They’re winks and blown kisses to the past and present.

Papered notes and other generous gestures are “points of contact” within busy days filled with chocolate basted whisks and daily lists.

If you never have “contact” in your marriage or communicative acts of service, the love feels light and lost instead of bright and deep.

So, maybe today or tomorrow, surprise your wife or husband with a cup of iced coffee under the bright refrigerator light. They will stand before the gesture and connect heart to heart even though both of you have went separate ways for the day. They will feel an imaginary kiss under a wedding arch of nostalgia and end the day under laced lasting love.
