Coffee Minute Moment with Mama Mare: Push through the Thick Whining

We’re getting deep into the two-year-old forest where the whiny echoes of my toddler bounce from tree to tree. My husband and I stand in the midst of foggy “ear-ringing” mist; fumbling to a clearing where the whining fades.

As adults, sometimes we are just like whiny two-year-olds. Our whiny flesh pushes us further away from God’s clearing and into a thicket where we become lost. We then stand in our own man-made fog of sin-failure.

Our flesh whines out daily to get attention. It tries to mute the Spirit (but God is always louder and victorious). In both circumstances, hearing your toddler whine or your flesh, drown out the noise with biblical earphones. As the saying echoes, “use selective hearing,” when your flesh tries to butt into the spiritual conversation.

When your flesh is whining out and wants sinful attributes, put in your biblical earbuds. Your ears will drown out the nagging. The mouth of Satan will silence (in Jesus’ name).

Keep your ears perked up like a war horse and listen to God’s voice. Push through the thick whining and head towards the clearing of spiritual victory.
Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. Romans 8:12-13
