Mama Mare Coffee Minute Moment: When Things don’t go as Planned like a Cracked Gingerbread man
Oven beep! Oh, no! Batch not as planned.
Tantrum amongst a manger at a Christmas festival…not as planned.
Vacations whooshing with rollercoasters of toddler whines and yells…not as planned.
Picture perfect photos with Santa Claus…far from North Pole perfect.
Crafts scribbled black and messy fake snow tracks…not as envisioned.
Meltdown over the wrong fruit pouch…definitely not as planned.
Many days, our “batch” comes out blackened and cracked. Before the day starts, Moms envision moments that are perfectly dressed with sweet gummy buttons. We envision times that are smooth and oven-baked to perfection. So, when we reach in and pull out imperfection (Gingerbread men misshapen and burnt), remember God is sitting at your kitchen island, encouraging.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
There is always hope in a better “batch” day. Even though we have days that are too salty with unplanned tantrums and reactions, God revamps our recipe, our mindset.
Even though days are imperfect and over-cooked with discord, God fills our heart with His sweet icing. There is fullness of joy in any batch we retrieve from the oven. His love covers the cracks and burnt corners.
His promise of a prosperous future is in the present “batch” and “batches” to come. Whether cracked or intact, God’s love covers us all with prosperity piping.
