Mama Mare POV: New Year…Same God

Our new year started out with a midnight firework bang; urgent care. My little girl has been sick for a couple weeks, and she told me today, “Fix my ear.” So, my husband and I rushed her to the doctor. He looked in her ear and said, “Definitely an ear infection.”

Infections, inconveniences, trials, and irrational times will more than likely lie in the new year (even on January 1st). We will always have ups and downs like the Times Square ball. We can be certain 2025 will confetti with all kinds of changes and difficulties.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever. - Hebrews 13:8

Even though we will sometimes be covered with confetti of changes and streamers of struggle, God remains the same; unwavering and uncovered. He stands faithful in helping us clean the floor. Then, we can clearly see the polish of perseverance, endurance, and strength. We see the producing of a strong Christian character.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. James 1:2-3

So, when you say, “New year, new me!”, the resolution of “new me” can only be achieved by enduring trials and uncomfortable changes.

January 1st, a trip to the doctor.

January 1st, a chance to endure.

January 1st, coming change.

January 1st, Jesus, forever the same.
