Mommies, we are Blessed Work Horses

Mommies, we are pack horses, work horses, and Pony Express horses. Everyday, we are strapped and saddled with weighted duties.

Even though the weight is worrisome, we have a choice to canter into the day’s sunrise with God-given joy, leaving anxious worry in the dawn’s dust.

There are days that we seem to be at a constant gallop while chores flank our sides (and our filly-spirited children), so remember to unbridle and rest at God’s peaceful pond that reflects blessings:

Daily, we feel like pack horses as we strap diaper bags to our backs filled with five pounds of wipes and snacks (and possibly strapping a thirty pound toddler around us that doesn’t want to walk). Although, packed with pounds of motherhood, we are blessed to carry our healthy thirty pound toddler who is full of snacks and smiles.

Everyday, we feel like the Pony Express horses delivering lunches to little hands that are mainly peanut butter sandwiches. We’re expressing packaged bandaids, kisses, and childhood memories. Although, we feel rushed and the trail dust covers us, we are blessed to be running towards little loved ones who reply, “I love you, Mommy.”

Every moment, we feel like work horses, bathing our muddy “foal” two times a day, pushing a swing with muscled power, and climbing up a tall jungle gym to rescue a scared toddler. Although, we feel overworked, we are blessed to have the strength of God to make messy memories.

Mommies, at times we will feel like real work horses, strapped with big tree trunk duties. When we feel overworked, remember to stop by God’s pond of reflective blessings; a smily day at the park, giggles over peanut butter sandwiches, and sweet chatter, “I love you, mommy.”
