Mama Mare POV: As toddler parents, our days can be smooth under any circumstances
The other day was rough…I mean rough like the feeling of sandpaper being rubbed against your skin.
As toddler parents, there are definite sunshiny days of listening spirits and overall happiness as three year olds snack (and quack like ducks). But alas, there will also be definite days of war screams; “I don’t want to!”, “No!”, “I want two minutes!”, and overall unruliness underfoot (and echoing overhead).
There will be days that will ultimately feel the opposite of smooth - more like corrugated steel. The stress motivates quickness to the bedtime finish line.
Even though everything is splintering with chaotic coarseness, our days can still feel smooth under any circumstances. Here’s the main attribute I’ve learned.
- Remain calm (or smooth self control) under the coarseness of life:
When you remain calm and steady the sailboat amongst the harsh sandpaper seas, clear wisdom directs the coarse of action:
- How should I react to my child’s disobedience?
- How should I discipline a certain action?
- Mainly, guide your child back to gospel grounds.
By remaining calm in any circumstance, you and your toddler will stay tied to the port of peace from sunrise to sunset.
Try to remember during rough days, God is taking sandpaper and smoothing us down to apply a primed paint of unending perseverance. Remember His peace encircles you like a wreath around a lamb’s white neck.
