Coffee on Coaster Conversations: Situate your chair in front of Jesus
As a mom, I’m trying to be more mindful of situating myself in front of Jesus. I’m trying to be more mindful of situating myself exactly at His feet. I’m trying to be more mindful of His comforting presence.
Sometimes, as parents, we get completely sidetracked and slide into complete oblivion. We become capsized and flooded by the day’s unending needs:
“I need a peanut butter and jelly sandwich!”
“I need to do laundry.”
“I need to make dinner and prep lunches.”
“I need to call the dentist.”
“I need to clean the house.”
“I need…I need…I need.”
The “needs” start pulling you away from Jesus’ feet. The dawn to dusk need for Him gets dusted over with duties. Demands call louder and louder, keeping you out of your purposed seat. Our minds redirect and rush over the main objective - abiding in God’s presence; abiding in the vine.
So, to become more mindful of Jesus’ comforting presence, take an imaginary chair and situate it in front of Him. Sit there all day in His presence, and His precedence will give purpose and peace to the “needs” of daily parenting and responsibilities.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for apart from Me, you can do nothing.” - John 15:5
