Coffee on Coaster Conversations: Walk away from the Kitchen

Sometimes, you just have to let things go. I’m talking in terms of daily chores and responsibilities (that aren’t crucial).

A couple days ago, my husband had the day off from work. We decided to swoop up our little butterfly and “release” her into a park with ‘rolly slides’ (as our little girl calls them) and needed Vitamin D nature.

Housework will always be waiting for you, but “time waits for no one”, so leave the house and make timely memories.

As my wise Mom tells me, “Leave the messes and go.”

Leave behind the dish cloth swipes and swipe the day with a clear view of family.

Leave behind the dishes and create sudsy memory bubbles that will later pop into minds.

Leave behind the laundry and wrap yourselves in sunny warmth and four-year-old laughter cascading from a bucket swing.

Leave behind every little house task and latch the door. Hold your husband’s and daughter’s hand (or son’s) and walk past the minute to spend important minutes together.

Sometimes, as moms, we have to be a Mary instead of a Martha - sit down, be still, and look to God and listen. Also, in His presence, beyond the sink full of dishes, absorb His blessings like a dish sponge. Those blessings being - your family.

So, today, walk away from the kitchen and absorb your family.
