Coffee on Coaster Conversations: selfishness has hopped into the driver’s seat with a vengeance
It’s scary when scrolling the internet - watching videos that ‘normalize’ selfishness and pride. It’s scary to live in a society that praises abortion and the negation of family to advance their career, buy material things, and ultimately, self edify - the worshipping of self by sacrificing others on their “alter”.
Eventually, the selfishness will spite you, use you, and deceive you. It will deceive you into thinking that nothing else matters, except you (Sound familiar? Did God really say not to eat the fruit?) - your happiness, your success, your excessive self-care, your piled up “alter”.
Selfishness has seemed to hop into the driver’s seat with a vengeance while Satan continuously steers the wheel towards the “me alter” - piled high with destruction.
“There’s just no way that I could have had a child then, working as hard as we worked constantly" - it would have "destroyed Fleetwood Mac" and ended my musical path - Stevie Nicks explaining her abortion.
Biblical sacrifice has taken a backseat while pagan sacrifice has jumped to the front.
We are called to be a fragrant offering - sacrificing ourselves for others, our children, and our families. By doing so, we are doing what God has called us to do - to love and serve.
To end the “self” trend, lock Satan and his ideals about “success” out of your car. Listen to God’s voice. Biblical sacrifice is sweet and fragrant. It’s hearing your four-year-old singing “A dream is a wish your heart makes” while making a fairytale village filled with Dogwood blossoms.
“And walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." Ephesians 5:2
